A couple of miles north of the Drusillas roundabout on the A27 between Lewes and Eastbourne. Another pub that always ensures a warm welcome, good food, and again a wide variety of real ales.

One of the few town centre pubs I would recommend in Brighton. One of the extensive Firkin chain, set in a converted church. Some of the original pews remain, where you can enjoy a variety of pub type food, with the perfect accompaniment of three different real ales.

I have only recently started using this pub, mainly because a lot of my mates drink there and it is a good starting point for a night out. Some well kept ales are available in this wonderfully cosy local pub. Can get a bit crowded at times, and you may get a few strange looks at first, but the regulars are all very friendly really.

Recently converted into Hogshead pub from - wait for it - a courthouse. Full of yuppie types with mobiles that don't stop ringing.

Very much a locals pub, but food is excellent. This is where the reviewer goes for a lunch time tipple on Fridays

The Ferndale Foods Ltd favorite for many reasons - good food, good beer and good service.

Part of the Wetherspoon group so has usual philosophy of no TV etc. OK, except that the toilets are on the 2nd floor up steep a staircase. So be careful not to break your neck when climbing the stairs drunk. Usually full of builder types who bash the fruit machines and like the cheap beer.

Beefeater chain pub with a young reputation but very atmospheric and good for sitting next to the river on a hot day with beer in hand.

A Harvester pub with a dodgy decor. Best not to go when raining - roof leaks. Loud locals full of comments such as "So X is shacked up with Z and Y doesn't know this?"

Popular country pub next to Amberley Station (Arun Valley Line) and the River Arun and a stone's throw from the excellent Amberley Museum. Wide ranging menu, food served every day except Sunday evenings. Several real ales always on.

A wonderful pub, with a really small car park opposite! Probably because most people would arrive on foot or by public transport. If you don't you won't be able to sample the eight or ten different real ales to the fullness they deserve.
