Mile north of A35 between Bridport and Winterbourne Abbas,
the Crown is run by John James, who makes the convivial atmosphere
even better with some excellent ales and good food, although
early booking for this is advised. Freehouse, with Palmers
of Bridport a major supplier. |

| Opposite
the Theatre Royal in Bath. Much like the Font and Firkin in
Brighton, although beware - they charge admission on some
evenings, and it can be quite studenty! |

miles south of Bath, on the A362 between Frome & Radstock.
A wonderful choice of the best food for miles around, served
in the restaurant or bar, with an excellent choice of real
ales and the wine list which is only eclipsed by list of single
malt whisky's!! Another pub which has just changed hands -
but it is still as good. |

| Despite
being in a tourist area, this is a fairly tranquil pub, located
behind Fortes Ice Cream Parlour at the bottom end of the gorge.
Serving Ushers beers, they also do a lunchtime menu until
2pm, and the natives are extremely friendly. |

|
| Only
8 miles from Bath this one, just off the A36 (1 mile west).
Some good beers, and Venison is the specialty of the house.
The George has undergone a major refurbishment. The bar area
is actually two or three separate rooms, and there is a games
room with Darts and Pool. The pub's character is not as good
as it was, although it was very quiet the night we visited
and that does not help. Also, the menu is not as extensive
as it used to be, but I'll give it a few months and then try
again. |
